The Talon series shows that anyone can be a hero no matter his or her size, special needs.

Matica finds courage in the jungles when her father becomes incapacitated and must rely on Matica for his life. Her birds Toma, Tima, and Talon help her find courage and determination she never knew she had.

To find out how her bird friends help her find something within herself she was unaware of, you will have to read the book. The series is the story of a child small for her age that shows the people of the village that anything is possible if you only believe in yourself.

The Talon series is a series recommended for all ages, and for parents to read to their children. It isn’t often that a story for all ages comes along that parents don’t have to worry about language or content for their children when reading.

The Talon series rates five stars. If you enjoy reading something positive, the Talon series is one that you should get a copy of Talon, sit back and begin reading.

The Other Island

Author: Jaime Martinez Tolentino

The Other Island is an engrossing tale of a Hispanic kid from Puerto Rico whose parents moved from the island to apart of New York in hopes of giving their children a better life.

People can relate on many levels to The Other Island. This memoir is also part history. Readers will learn something about growing up in the U.S. when English isn’t your native language, and one comes from a different culture.

The protagonist must face the difficult task of assimilating into a foreign way of life and overcoming not only language and cultural issues, but also health issues and issues of poverty and cultural stereotyping; being Puerto Rican growing up in the 1950s and 1960s El Barrio (Spanish Harlem) of New York.

Then there is the problem of having to move to El Barrio because New York declared eminent domain over 17 blocks (16.3-acres); including the one where you’re living, in a rundown building. Then, having to move into the only place available, which is a step down because the city is going to build the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts where your building presently stands. All your family receives in compensation is moving expenses, leaving the family to find a new place they can afford.

This review is from reading The Other Island by Jaime Martinez Tolentino, a Puerto Rican who was the first in his family to entertain the idea of college. He was the first in his family to graduate from college.

The Other Island is a book for every reader. The Other Island receives a five out of five stars rating, with a must read recommendation.

Lt. Commander Mollie Sanders receives assignment to sea duty as the second seat, fire control, in an F-18. While on what should be a routine training mission, Mollie and the pilot are fired upon by a mysterious missile that was not part of the training flight, thus begins a conundrum for Mollie and her pilot Kevin, nickname Surfer.

Lt. Commander Mollie Sanders is an engaging read for people that like the adventure/mystery genre. Phyllis and Mitchell weave a tail that brings intrigue and characters that will keep you reading for hours, because you won’t want to put down this book, that’s what happen to this reviewer.

This reviewer found Lt. Commander Mollie Sanders a well-written book, that should hold the interest of any reader to see what happens next, and if the ice maiden will thaw, and become a normal person. You’ll have to read the book to find out the rest of the story and where the missile might have come from.

How would you react to being in the middle of a war zone, where you can’t trust the people living around you? What are the living conditions, and what kind of a mindset would you have in such a place?

Not in the Wind, Earthquake, or Fire is a book that will give you a first-hand look through the eyes of a soldier in a war zone with IEDs, and infiltration of fighters who don't what non-Muslims in their country  living at all.

Not in the Wind, Earthquake, or Fire also contains photographs of troupes in camp trying to make as normal a live as possible in unusual conditions.

If readers are at all interested in finding out more about where U.S. dollars are going and how our troupes are coping, reading Not in the Wind, Earthquake, or Fire will give you some idea.

The Between

The Between is a book for those who love the Fae, unusual characters, and a doorway to access them.

How would you handle it, if someone told you that you’re of pure Fae blood when all you knew of was the same world that most of us live in daily? Imagine that your Fae parents were at each other’s throats, battling for total control of the Faerie Lands because of something you had no knowledge of, and placed you in the mortal world as a child.

This is the well-written and engaging premise of The Between. This reviewer found it a pleasure to read this book and recommended it to his wife who loves Fae, and creatures of fantasy, as does the reviewer.

If enjoy reading, this reviewer recommends The Between for all readers, not just fantasy readers.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of The Between, sit back in a comfortable chair and enjoy yourself with a good book.

Gauntlet Runner: A Tale from the French and Indian Wars

Gauntlet Runner, while a work of fiction, is about real battles that took place in early America before the fight for independence.

As a reviewer I must mention that there is a graphic description of the torture of Indian captives that some may find disturbing. It all depends on the individual reader and their level of comfort with the descriptions. Many such incidents have been recorded and depicted in numerous movies dealing with the “White Man” and Indians (Now called Native American).

S. Thomas Bailey, author of the Gauntlet Runner is a researcher of early North American life as a raw historian.

If you are at all interested in early American history, Gauntlet Runner is a book that should be added to your required reading list.

As a reviewer, Life Descending: Part One of The Cry of Havoc is a book that made me wish I had part 2 as a reader. The cast of characters in Life Descending: Part One of The Cry of Havoc is believable and the setting is a planet other than Earth, with a combination of myth and magic. The cast of characters includes unique animals that can speak to the humanoids and mythical creatures that combine into a quest to find a rumored suit of armor with special properties.

Does this armor exist? The only way to learn the answer is to do what this reviewer did, read the book.

Life Descending: Part One of The Cry of Havoc is a book leaving this reviewer/reader wanting more of this tale to read to find out what happens next to Tom, Bravis, Keltin, Captain Ron (a parrot), and two Leprechauns.

Life Descending: Part One of The Cry of Havoc has everything in it that readers will enjoy; history, magic, myths, battles, and intrigue, which is something for everyone. Readers will love to read Life Descending: Part One of The Cry of Havoc as this avid reader/reviewer did.

While reading Life Descending: Part One of The Cry of Havoc, this reviewer found it hard to put down, although this reviewer prefers hard copies over electronic this reviewer read the later on a tablet using Adobe® Reader it was still hard to quit reading even while being tired. It has been a long time since this reviewer/reader has been so affected by reading a story.

In case, you haven’t heard of LinkedIn, a site for professionals, or are an experienced user there is a good deal of information for the user of LinkedIn in LinkedIn For The Clueless.

Today’s business and professionals must realize that “social networking” is akin to advertising and posting your CV/Résumé via your profile page. The point made in LinkedIn For The Clueless is to make it less a CV/Résumé and make it more personal. There are real people on LinkedIn and they would like to know other people, not just any profile.

Victoria wrote with tongue-in-cheek LinkedIn For The Clueless as the title, but LinkedIn For The Clueless is anything but. After reading LinkedIn For The Clueless, cover to cover.
